ANDREW TAKYI-APPIAH

Andrew Takyi-Appiah is the Founder and Managing Director of Zeepay. He is an experienced ex-banker with over 20 years in the industry, having worked for key organisations worldwide. He is an expert in Banking and Mobile Payments, and has successfully expanded businesses across multiple jurisdictions. He was a key part of Ecobank’s growth in the Eastern part of Africa and in recent times for Zeepay.

 

Andrew’s experience spans the world of marketing and banking, including a strong background in strategy and transformation. He has been part of key strategy development for banks in his working career. He has held various positions, from being a Brand Manager for NESCAFE to holding several senior roles in both banking and Big Four Consulting.

 

Andrew has worked with a range of institutions such as the Commonwealth Secretariat, Nestle, Barclays UK, GT Bank, Ecobank, UT Bank, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has lived and worked in three continents – Europe, North America, and Africa. In Africa, he has experience and exposure working in more than nine markets, including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa. Andrew has also been
part of key retail deployments across Africa and comes on board with in-depth retail and payments experience.

 

In his spare time, Andrew speaks on mobile payments, finance, and banking and has been featured as a guest speaker at several international conferences. His passion lies within financial inclusion and mobile payments. He studied at the Greenwich School of Management, an associate school of the University of
Hull, United Kingdom, and the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2014, Andrew founded Zeepay, and he managed to kick it off in 2016 after a successful Seed raise led by GLICO Insurance and a few privately held investors. He successfully led Zeepay from zero processed volume (turnover) in 2016 to USD1.2 billion in 2021. Today the company is one of the major global icons in FINTECH with operations in over 20 jurisdictions, including the Caribbean – Barbados. The company is licensed by various banking regulators globally, including the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and the Bank of Ghana in Ghana.

Her extensive expertise as a technology, digital, and data-driven transformation expert cuts across designing, developing, and implementing digital and data-
driven solutions to leading the strategic direction for market development,expansion, and consumer growth. With over 18 years of practice experience, her
work spans diverse industries including banking, payments, commerce, technology, and clean energy sectors. She has previously served in several roles in
technology and digital transformation at Guaranty Trust Bank and Access Bank in Ghana.

Leo Skarlatos

Leo Skarlatos is the  CEO of AirtelTigo with a mandate to chart out a plan for the future of AirtelTigo.

 

Leo assumed this role in May of 2021, but had been working on this project for over a year now.

 

Prior joining AirtelTigo, he has been CFO of various telecoms companies including MTN, Vodafone, Orascom, and Duetsche Telecom, in Ghana, Zambia, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Myanmar, Romania, and Iraq, Prior to that he was in one of the world’s largest conglomerates (United Technologies Corporation) starting in IT, Group Audit, Treasury and Finance, and culminating in Country Manager for a Division in Europe.  With United Technologies, Leo was based in several parts of the USA, Belgium, Hungary, France, and Greece, with significant other worldwide assignments and travels.

 

Leo holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Hartford, in Connecticut, USA, and a Bachelor’s of Science from Rensellaer Polytechnic Institute in New York State, USA. 

Eli Hini

Chief Executive Officer, MoMo Payment Service Bank Limited

 

Eli Hini is the Chief Executive Officer for MoMo Payment Service Bank Limited, the subsidiary of MTN Nigeria responsible for mobile financial services. He is responsible for driving strategy, business development, innovation, stakeholder management and relevant operations of MoMo PSB.  

He was the Chief Executive Officer for MobileMoney Limited, the MTN Ghana subsidiary responsible for mobile financial services until October 2022. Eli was instrumental in setting up Mobile Money services in Ghana and growing the business over the years through strategic partnerships, business development stakeholder management and innovation. Eli is a Chartered Marketer with over 18 years’ experience and has also held leadership positions in Unilever Ghana Limited and The Coca- Cola Bottling Company Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a post-graduate diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He has also participated in Executive and General Management program at Kellogg School of Management. 

Eli serves on the boards of MoMo PSB Limited, MobileMoney Limited, aYo Intermediaries Ghana Ltd and IC Asset Managers.

Ato Bentsi-Enchill

“Ato is currently a Director at Black Adam Africa Capital Management (BAACAP), a boutique private equity and transactional advisory firm, helping Africa-focused companies raise capital. Since inception, BAACAP has guided its clients to investments from some of Africa’s most noteworthy institutional investors.  

 

Ato has been involved in the financial services industry for over 4 years now, assisting firms from a wide range of sectors to engage with investors. Through these activities, he has built his skills in conducting due diligence, constructing, analyzing and leading term sheet negotiations, and in investor relations.

 

His experience leading engagements on the behalf his clients make him a highly regarded advisor on transactions from early stage investments to growth capital injection. In line with this, he is a Venture Partner at three of the most prolific early stage investors, both in Africa and globally. He holds a number of board roles including serving on the Advisory Committee the International Finance Corporation (IFC) EXCEED Program aimed at improving socio-economic conditions for communities hosting oil, gas and mining projects in Ghana, Guinea, Kenya and the Ivory Coast. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Nubuke Foundation, Ghana’s premier visual art and cultural institution.

 

Ato holds a Bachelors in International Relations and French & Francophone Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. As a member of the Global Shapers Community, previously serving as Vice Curator, he is passionate about building global networks to share resources, explore business opportunities to drive collective growth.

Ing Mrs Louisa Ama Sosu is the Senior Manager for Networks Performance and SLA in MTN Ghana. She has over eighteen years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. Louisa joined MTN in 2004 as a National Service Engineer Trainee. She became a Radio Network Performance Supervisor in 2006 and the Network Quality and Reporting Manager in 2010. She moved into her current role in 2014.  She highly focused on the delivery of Network targets and Quality.  A dynamic, efficient and strategic individual with strong interpersonal, excellent presentation and communication skills. 

 

Ing Mrs Louisa Sosu holds a Master of Business Administration in Supply Chain Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Additionally, she is a certified Engineer by Ghana Institution of Engineers and was adjudged the Best Engineer in the Electrical and Electronic category certification examinations in 2011.

 

In 2022 when she joined MTN Group Technology on secondment for a period of 5 months, she wrote and edited the “Setting the PACE magazine”. The magazine captured the key highlights of the presentations and MTN’s Technology strategy during the CTIO Conference which was organized by a team she led.

Eric is the head of the Stanbic Bank (Gh) Ltd Engineering team. He oversees the digital strategy of the bank and has responsibilities that span Partnerships and Technology, among others.

Prior to this, he served as the head of Sales and Distribution at MTN Ghana. He led the process of creating today’s mobile money ecosystem and growing usage from marginal levels to the pervasive levels that are evident today.

He has worked across management consulting, manufacturing and academia.

He holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.
