Kofi Asare

Kofi is an Education Policy Influencer and Executive Director at Africa Education Watch, an education policy think tank working in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has 22 years of experience in the Education Sector of Africa, working with schools, communities, international organizations, and government agencies and the private sector in the development, implementation, management and review of laws, policies and programmes at all levels of the education sector. He has expertise in Undertaking Policy Research, and Advocacy Engagement at the Community, National and International levels. He has represented Civil Society on the Ministerial Advisory Board of the Ministry of Education and Education Sector Working and Technical Committees, Supported the development of Education Strategic Plans, and consulted extensively for local and international organizations. In 2016, Kofi was awarded the Prestigious 2016 Millennium Excellence Award for Rural and Urban Development by the Millennium Excellence Foundation under the distinguished patronage of His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the Ashantehene. Kofi holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Economics & Sociology, a Master of Arts Degree in Democracy, Governance, Law and Development, both from the University of Cape Coast, a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of London and a Certificate in Ghana Legal System and Constitutional Law from the Ghana School of Law. He is currently a PHD student at the Lincoln University in Kuala Lumpur. He believes that relevant education and equal access to economic opportunities for all are pre-requisites for breaking the cycle of inter-generational poverty and inequality in our society.
